Riehu-paita/Boy's sweater

Kesän satoa, riemunkirjava paita 4-vuotiaalle viikarille. Kuvattu Kylmäpihlajan ihanalla majakkasaarella, Rauman edustalla. Halusin paidasta iloisen ja malliltaan 70-luvun tyylisen makkarankuoren, jota poisi pitää ihan yksinään, pitkähihaisen T-paidan asemesta. Värit ovat sitä, mitä kaupan alennuskorista löytyi, mutta Rowanin ihanilla langoilla ei koskaan kai voi mennä ihan pieleen. Tätä on pidetty paljon.

This sweater I got ready this summer, for my 4-years old non-stopper. The photo is taken at Kylmäpihlaja island, at the western archipelago of Finland, near the city of Rauma. I wanted the sweater to be happy and similar to those slim 70's sweaters. It turned out very comfortable, you can wear it instead of a T-shirt. The colours are quite aggressive, I know, they are found from a sale box, but with the shades of Rowan yarns the end result can never go too much wrong, I guess. He likes it, which is the most important.

Pikkuisille / For the small ones

Kaksi villatakkia samasta langasta. Toinen täällä asuvan ystäväni vauvalle, joka syntyi huhtikuussa, toinen omalle tulevalle pikkuihmiselle.

Flying to Finland today, for the summer. Hope to come back with one bigger boy and with one very small one.

Vihreä takki Bracciano-järvellä/Green coat in Lago di Bracciano

Tämä valmistui vihdoin pääsiäisenä; vuosi aloittamisesta. Tykkään ja en. Tykkään mallista, istuvuudesta, erityisesti hihoista halkioineen. En tykkää siitä, että takki on niin painava, että se venyy käytössä pituutta. Enkä ole varma väristä. Onko se liian hyökkäävä? Ärtsy? Lime? Liian jotain.

Kuvauspaikkana Lago di Bracciano, vain vähän yli puolen tunnin ajomatkan päässä Roomasta. Täällä on kesä.

Parin kuukauden päästä takki mahtunee myös paremmin kiinni.

After one year this spring coat is finally ready. I like it and don't like. I like the model, the shape of it, especially the sleeves. What I'm not that happy with is that I chose a heavy yarn which makes the coat longer and longer every time I wear it. And I'm not sure about the colour. Is it too lime green? Too much?

Kämmekkäät parvekkeella/Wristlets at the balcony

Nämä ovat olleet kovassa käytössä tänä talvena ja keväänä. Kuvaaminen on kuitenkin jäänyt. Nyt ne saavat siirtyä talviunille. Neuloin nämä joululomalla, ihanan Pirkka-langan värikokeiluna kahdella erivärisellä langalla yhtä aikaa. Neuloin yksinkertaiset suorakulmiot, jotka sitten vain ompelin kiinni. Tykkään langan värisävyistä, mutta väriyhdistelmiä olisin kyllä voinut vähän miettiä, nyt vain otin puikoille umpimähkään korista lankoja... mikä valitettavasti näkyy lopputuloksessa. Ensi kerralla täytyy tehdä suunnitelma väreistä puuvärien ja paperin kanssa.

I have used these wristlets a lot this winter. I made them already during Christmas holidays but only now managed to get a photo of them. I love the shades of the yarn. This was kind of mindless experiment with colours, I had no plans when doing these, which is also - unfortunately - easy to see from the result... still I like them.

Pöytäliina Sabaudiassa/Tablecloth in Sabaudia

Ei tullutkaan täkki, tulikin liina. Sinänsä ihanat värit olivat luonnonsävyiseen olohuoneeseen liian iso kontrasti. Mutta neutraaliin ruokailuhuoneeseen ne sopivat. Täällä ulkomailla ollessani en voi saada kylliksi Marimekosta. Seuraavaksi haaveilen tästä. Siitä saisi kauniin verhon.

Kuva on otettu aurinkoisena viime sunnuntaina ihanalla hiekkarannalla, 120 km Roomasta etelään. Täällä on kevät.

It became a tablecloth, not a blanket as I had first planned. But the colours, as much as I like them, were just too much to the sofa in our livingroom. So it found its place from the dining room and makes our dinners more enjoyable... The more I live here in Italy, the more I long for Marimekko fabrics. The next thing that I dream about is this. It would make a lovely curtain.

The picture is taken last Sunday on a lovely sunny beach, 120 km south of Rome. It is spring here.

Pipoja vauvoille/Bonnets for babies

Kaksi ystävääni on juuri saanut vauvan, ja nämä lähtivät matkaan Suomeen. Toivottavasti ne sopivat pieniin päihin!

Two of my friends have just got babies in Finland. Hope that the sizes are right for the small heads!

Bolero Alpeilla/Bolero in the Alps

Ajoimme hiihtolomalla pohjoiseen, Valle d'Aostaan. Pieni bolero pääsi mukaan ihaniin lumimaisemiin. En kyllä oikein ymmärrä, miksi teen näitä epäkäytännöllisiä vaatekappaleita: ensin keeppi (joka kääntyy joka kerta päällä vinottain) ja nyt bolero. Tämä oli ensituttavuuteni Noro-lankaan, ja täytyy sanoa, että tapaaminen taitaa jäädä ainokaiseksi. Vähän turhan räikeitä värejä mukana raidoissa.
Mutta nopea tämä oli tehdä.

A "settimana bianca" in the North, in the lovely mountains of Valle d'Aosta. - Just don't get it why I keep on doing these unpractical pieces of clothes: first the poncho, then this bolero... This one was really fast to do, but may be I won't become a big fan of Noro yarns, I find the colours of this a bit too much...

Värienergiaa/Colour energy

Valmiita töitäkin on, mutta en ole saanut kuvattua niitä. Olemassaolotodisteeksi kuitenkin kuva tekeillä olevasta laiskan naisen tilkkupeitosta. Isoja 15x20cm tilkkuja, valmistuu hujauksessa. Kankaat lähinnä Marimekkoa ja yksi vanha Tampella 70-luvulta; omasta kangasvarastosta ja Marimekon alelaarista. Värejä ahmii silmillään, vaikken tiedäkään, sopiiko tämä värikimara sinne, mihin olen sitä suunnitellut...

Lupaan palata ensi kerralla pikemmin!
